Albert Breer on Panthers trade deadline strategy

Depends on what Evero is telling Fitt about who he wants to use in his defense, and who we need to trade. Evero will want this roster changed for sure to fit his system, and obviously the current roster will change a lot if and when it can be done in a cost effective manner.

Defensive vets should be traded as soon as fair deal can be drawn up. This allows for Evero to mold the defense into what he wants, and it frees up money that we don't need to be spending on defense when we're nowhere close to being a good team. The vets can be replaced with Evero approved draft picks and young low price free agent players who fit our system perfectly. That way the rookie defensive players learn while Young is learning. You don't want expensive vets at the top of their game eating up huge cap space while Young is still learning. That money can be shifted to the offensive side of the ball, so as to protect Young and make it easier to evaluate him.

All defensive vets who want big contracts should be traded. All players who don't fit Evero's system should be traded when possible. Money freed up goes to the offensive side of the ball within reason. Holes in the defense should be filled by rookie draft picks approved by Evero, and budget vets. Then we go shopping with serious cash to bring in highly talented offensive players. Juice the offense up big time, and let the defense be a work in progress. The defense can be fixed with future drafts and maturation.

As much as I like Burns he is being wasted.....the smart play is trading him for a 1st and 2nd or 3rd if you can.  This team is 2 WR, 3 OLine, 1 DE, 2 LB, 2 CB, 1 TE, possibly 1 RB at least away from the playoffs....you ain't getting all that in the next 2 years without selling some pieces that would be replaced anyway.  Burns, Chinn, Jackson, TMJ, Tremble, Thomas, Thielen, Chark, Thompson, Hurst.....they should all be considered available...wouldn't trade em all obviously, but...we are 0-5.....if we are 0-7 by the deadline I mean what do we really have to lose the last 10 games here?  They proved they are an 0-7 team.

I was hopeful our new coaching staff would plan their schemes accordingly to the talent they have to work with but nope. More of the same old square peg round hole bs

The offense is definitely struggling in that department but I feel like Evero is doing the best he can with the scraps and backups he's had to use thus far. He's down his top two corners, starting ILB, and starting safety. Secondary was thin to begin with but the defense looked decent until last week.

Jackson - 4th or 5th

Chinn - 3rd or 4th

Marshall - future considerations

Way too high. Given Jackson’s injury history, contract, and subpar play, you're probably looking at a 7th at best. Maybe Jackson and a 7th for a 6th swap that’s been all the rage lately.

Chinn is a FA after the season. 5th is probably the ceiling here.

Marshall isn’t getting anything. Maybe a throw in in an underperforming player for player swap (e.g. Hardman for Marshall)
