Thomas Brown had things looking different for a sec and then right back to poo.

Its the short-yardage calls. You HAVE to be under center there. It makes no sense to force Chubba to get 6 yards to gain one yard. App State does this all the time and it drives me crazy, but they pretty much refuse to ever go under center as part of their scheme.

Absolutely without a doubt. He has his problems but arm strength hasn't shown to be one of them.

Arm strength is maybe his biggest overall problem because it's the root cause of a lot of his issues.

When you don't have the arm you need to make the throws you make, it changes everything else.

It changes the plays you can call, it changes the throws he can even attempt to make and thus causes him to make poor decisions because he flat out doesn't have the ability to make a throw if he doesn't have a perfect base underneath him.

Because of that he always feels the need to pull the ball down and move in the pocket, which he also isn't fast or strong enough to do and it leads to sacks and throwaways.  Where in the same situation, 90% of the other QB's in this league can still attempt the throw because they have the arm strength to throw off base.

No, maybe they don't complete the passes every time (although they do at times), but they at least can attempt them, he flat out can't and it has a cascading affect on the rest of his play/decisions.

I watch more NFL than 99% of this board

What starting QB in this league has a worse arm than Bryce?

And again, as I said in my other post, I'm not talking about someone who is a backup who is getting a start because of injury (so whoever is starting for the Bengals doesn't count), but "normal" starting QBs.

Closest I could think of is Pickett, but even his arm is stronger (again, not strong, but stronger than Bryce's).

He definitely has a better arm than Mac Jones. Obviously almost all the backup QB's starting you aren't including he has a better arm than. Gardner Minshew for instance. Ridder is debatable. He isn't a cannon armed guy for sure.

    • He still has his bio up at ESPN https://espnpressroom.com/us/bios/david-newton/
    • I really don’t understand the urgency at TE. Or to cut bait with XL.  Are people thinking that because Cam did so well with Olsen that Bryce would do the same? I don’t, at all (and Kmet is no Olsen).  We are not Air Coryell or Air Chud, hell we aren’t even Air Shula. We are a lot closer to Air Check it Down.  Re XL, you need depth at WR. We should at least see what camp looks like before cutting bait on him. Make sure everyone is healthy and see what he looks like. What his attitude is, if he is working hard, all that stuff.
    • I mean you technically have to count his rookie year but in all honesty last year was more like year 2 for Young. His rookie year was such a sh*t show. None of his WRs from that year are in the NFL. Worst OG performances in NFL History and the coach got fired 11 games in. That's about as bad a scenario can get for a rookie QB   Josh Allen also had some serious doubters his first couple seasons. He only threw for 3,089 yards his 2nd season before making the jump. Young has to continue to improve and now that he's in the same system for a 3rd consecutive year he may keep showing improvement. And if he doesn't we should he in prime position to snag a top prospect next year
