Josina Anderson thoughts on the Burns situation

Players can’t play it’s a business card then get sad if they get traded because they don’t get what they want. Offering Burns 27mill a year is fair and it’s fair for him to reject. But surely players understand as soon as teams realise players aren’t going to accept their best offer they’re going try and get maximum return for them and not let them walk for peanuts.

He wants $30 mill per year, Panthers previously offered $27 per year and that would have made him 3rd highest at his position. If we are going to give Hurney hell for his bloated contracts in the past. Morgan better not sign Burns for that much. Burns has not earned that money. Brandt Tilis, this is what you were hired to do! It'll be very interesting how Tilis handles this too.

By not accepting the rams trade this team made their decision. Now if they trade him for less than what the rams offered, that’s a big fat L. They have to reach an agreement some way, although I think paying him 30 mil is too much. His production does not match that. If he gets it, good for him, get the bag.

Different leadership now. That gives them the out to trade him for less. Fitts couldn't.

Person's latest article had a tidbit below.

Get ourselves (1) first, wash our hands, and look to the future.  A long term deal in CAR isn't coming to fruition and he'll still garner plenty of interest, just not at 2022 Ram' level.  Just tag and see what the offers look like.  There will be a return, healthy enough to just move forward and not find us in a Peppers' or Norman situation.

Get done what needs to get done if he's not coming here long term.  And then you can have 2 picks in the top 33 again.  Would completely reshape how we could work this draft.

While it’s unlikely the Panthers would get anything closely approaching the Rams’ offer from 2022, one veteran front-office executive believes teams would be willing to give up one first-round pick in a package for Burns.

You don’t make decisions to save face of a fired GM. That would really be embarassing.

Great comments by JA.  So true.  Will say they have handled things in a player friendly way under Fitty.  CMC and Moore were more than happy with their situations.

But honestly this is a tough business and the team has to get everything it possibly can for Burns.  Time for being the nice guy are over

    • I fully expect them to pick up his 5th year , and they're waiting for him to put a full excellent consistent season of QB play in year 4 or 5. If that don't happen,  they'll eventually cut ties.  Here's to hoping he just goes on a team in 2026. The worst thing he could do is continue to see-saw us to around .500 records because it might be impossible to replace him at that point unless youre willing to do the veteran qb carousel poo we did from 2019 to 2023.
    • What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
