Anyone else think we’re getting too hyped

Cautiously optimistic. Bryce’s tenure has been 20% feast and 80% famine.  I was all in for Bryce at first then I sunk to he’s done and now my arrow is moving to positive again but remain in the just at wait and see mode.

I feel pretty good about the staff and better about the roster so hoping we see an uptick. Team was playing very competitive football to end last season and a 5-12 team energized a downtrodden fan base with many  wishing there was a week 19. Could be in a better spot but the spot we are in is better than expected so I’ll take it.

I will say this. I am far from sold on this defense.  If it comes together like their plan/vision, then yes,  there will be something to be excited for, because our offense is built to hold the ball and score.

We dobt need the defense to be elite. Although it does need to be above average at take aways if this team is going to be successful this season.

Funny how some of the loudest voices now "cautioning optimism" were the same ones spending all last offseason trying to smother any hope or support... 👀

it’s really just the ones who want Bryce gone and never want him in a Panthers uniform, ever, regardless of how well he does. Those who are hopeful for Bryce doing well have an optimistic slant on the season. The incessant Bryce knockers, the never Brycers, don’t see the season amounting to anything. It’s weird psychology.

This isnt true.  I've been here long enough to know who the "realists" are, and they have always been the same posters.

Weren't they inevitably correct?   Odd take on trying to dunk on someone?

I mean we haven't had a winning season in going on 8 years we have had the worst win percentage in all of sports the last few years and we spent most of last summer arguing with each other on whether to be hyped or cautiously optimistic. To the point he was trying to moderate the discourse all throughout training camp. The staff then decided to hold the starters out of preseason until the very end and we started off the season with two of the ugliest losses in franchise history. Yet apparently in his mind the problem is....the fans who are justifiably apprehensive to buy the hype again before seeing some consistency in actual games? I don't see anything remotely unreasonable about it and it certainly doesn't make anyone any less of a fan or inferior to someone else unless that someone is mentally ill.

I don't think we are getting that much "hype".

There are thousands of sports analyst today, with each one striving to be different from the others.  So it stands to reason a few of them are going to say positive things about us.  Most of the major publications are going to have us down until we prove something on the field.

To me the hype is coming from what I see this team is building. The offense is setup to have a good backup in every position. The way Bryce was reading defenses the last 8 games, gets you excited.

now the defense, we all know what we had last year. Our defense is now is Horn,Mike Jack and the new guys including Brown. The defense is close to having quality backups in all positions.

i am happy very few are hyping us. Our best years, no one hyped the Panthers.

In my head it all depends how fast the defense comes together. And of course the injury bug could destroy any team.

I'll say this, I have seen Tepper era teams more hyped up around here than this current one on the huddle.

I think year 2 of Matt Rhule and year 1 of Frank Reich at THIS time of the year were more hyped around here.

I think the difference is that this year we are basing our hype over players and not the coaching staff.  Especially under Reich.  The star-studded coaching staff was going to put us back on top.

This year the offense improves with the addition of TMAC and keeping all our O-line assets on the roster plus we added depth at RB and TE.

Evero was retained because, IMO, he didn't have any talent to work with outside of a couple of players. This year almost every position was address and IMO better depth. There are a few question marks but the improvement of the D-line may help cover some flaws in the backend.

I am more excited about this season, talent wise, than I have been in several years.

Considering how you and a few others were saying that the team needs to move on from Bryce in 2025, that he isn't good throwing deep, and has no chance of being a quality NFL QB... I'd say inevitably incorrect. 👀

    • Jeremy Fowler draft intel on the Panthers: “Carolina was high on Proctor. If he somehow slipped to 19, he was a viable option.” “Caleb Lomu was on the Panthers short list too.” “Panthers weren’t totally comfortable with Stowers there at 49.”   https://x.com/panthersontap/status/2049827264972353727?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
