Probably to mentor Darnold since Alex smith went through the exact same thing early in his career.

I wouldn't be against improved depth at QB, but it doesn't need to be at a premium price.

As long as we can dump Teddy and get him on the cheap, then I think it would be an outstanding move.

We need to have a good veteran mentor for Darnold, and there isn't many, if any, better options out there right now than Smith.
