Smitty's commentary

His insight and honesty was great. His delivery needs some work, he's speaking and responding at about 3/4 of the speed he needs to be at. There were long, drawn out pauses and while his chill is okay in a slow moving pre-season game, he'd be hard pressed to keep tempo.

Getting the names wrong, not a problem in the preseason, it's just going to happen.

It was a bit awkward at times, but you gotta remember he's got producers and stat guys chirping in his ear while he's trying to talk. But, he does need to let go of the tired and mundane analogies, metaphores and cliches- he did stumble thru several of those.

But I love his honesty and there's nothing more refreshing than to have someone who knows these guys and came from this organization who'll tell it like it is.

The only disagreement I have- Grier is a bust. Made a couple good throws yesterday, but it was a preseason game and it doesn't make up for the nothing he's done for a couple years now.

South Carolina fans weren’t happy with him lol. He ripped Jake Bentley to shreds when talking about Shi Smith. He wasn’t wrong about anything he said, but was kind of an odd rant to go on considering Jake Bentley isn’t even playing football anymore. Gamecock message boards were furious about it. I’m a longtime Bentley hater so I was fine with it lol

Overall, I thought he was fine for a preseason game. He’s not very polished, but I loved his honesty.

In short I loved it. Surprised he didn't cuss out loud a few times! He is honest to a FAULT. I enjoyed his insights. Screw it, it's hard to be unbiased when talking about one of the greatest the Panther's players of all time. Also, liked that the other guy didn't talk about the coach's ample chest. I hope Steve doesn't get himself in trouble saying stuff on TV.

    • Great season regardless of what happens. From starting out 4-14 to ending 44-38 is incredible progress and future is bright from here. I do think we can beat the Heat and then win on the road against either Orlando or Philly assuming Embiid doesn’t miraculously return sooner. But if not, a higher draft pick is nice too
    • I know a DT that's asking for a trade: 🤔 maybe a home discount can be worked out. Dan Morgan could create up to $80 million in space through restructures of stars like Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, or Taylor Moton. They could also include players like Tershawn Wharton ($18.6M cap hit) in the trade to balance the salaries. Carolina Receives: DT  Dexter Lawrence II New York Receives: 2026 2nd Round Pick (No. 51 Overall): A premium Day 2 selection that fits the for  Lawrence  after his 0.5-sack season in 2025. WR  Xavier Legette : A young, high-upside receiver who provides the playmaking depth HC John Harbaugh needs for his offense. 2026 4th Round Pick: Immediate mid-round value. 2027 4th Round Pick (via MIN): Future capital acquired in the  Adam Thielen  trade.  ----- Stone Forsythe* (another young player as a potential trade option)provides immediate offensive line retooling for HC John Harbaugh.    John Harbaugh's history in Baltimore proves he values draft volume over individual superstars.    Just my 2cents
    • Moved to Tuesday, not Wednes because of scheduling with Flyers game or something in Philly. But I don't feel good about the Heat.  It has been a great season regardless.  Team just been playing so hard to move up since a bad start and just picked a bad time to get gassed.  It's like almost everyone is shooting cold at the same time even wide open shots.   Maybe atmosphere and playoffs kick off a spark.  I'd rather be in a series than a one and done though. The team has a good foundation to build on regardless of what happens.
