Richard Sherman makes a lot of sense right now

The Horn injury sucks but we need to try to avoid panic signings. We are trying to build sustained success, not a Hurney-esque trove of over-the-hill vets in a quest for "this is our year!"

I don't think Sherman (or any other proven vet) signed tons reasonable 1-year deal would fall into that category, but I do agree that this isn't 2015 where a Cortland Finnegan-type midseason signing is going to make or break the team. With Bouye coming back and a longer week it seems wise to hold tight.

You're not going to get anyone worth signing short term.  I doubt you get anyone worth signing long term either at this stage of the game. Sadly we will just have to make due. They will probably bring up someone from the practice squad as emergency depth until Horn returns.

Every situation is different. Who knows maybe someone would want to play with the #1 defense on a non guaranteed contract for this season. This front office wont' do any derp long term signings or w/e so I'm not concerned at all if they do end up signing someone.

We have Fittsmagic and Dan Morgan...they sign someone it'll be real

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
