I can understand this mindset given our recent raving success.

Oh wait...

C'mon, it's preseason!  How many teams look like the best practice teams then get shanked in the regular season?

If we get handled once we start game planning, then I think we can start the panic.  Right now, I'm not stressing.  Certainly, we know that Jordan is not a good guard at all, but I don't make that choice.  That's on Rhule, and if we have a poop year, then he's gone, and we get to start all over again.

I just don't think the preseason is a time to get all worked up over PFF scores.  Now if it comes out that we look like wimps in the joint practices, then that's something else ENTIRELY.

Not wanting to overreact but we have got to situate the o line like yesterday. No excuse to trot out what we did. Hoping it was some weird unnecessary evaluation stint or else Rhule is further gone than imaginable and won't make it through the season. At least there are folks in the coaching staff with some HC experience. Also, big shout-out to Wilks getting these DBs up to speed and back into form.

I said that same thing before we got Mayfield and everyone wanted Corral starting. Why not let Darnold take the lumps while we let the OL gel and see how good Corbett, Iky, BC and Bozeman are? People in here get way ahead of themselves. Mayfield is a top 10 QB and our OL is top 10, etc.

I agree regarding the oline. But Darnold always should have been shown the door he has no future regardless and tanking isn't a real thing not now after recent claims of coaches being offered added financial incentives to lose.

Quote

31. LB Julian Stanford: 37.7
32. DT Daviyon Nixon: 37.4
33. LB Isaiah Graham-Mobley: 36.4
34. DT Bravvion Roy: 36.0
35. DT Frank Herron: 30.2

Jeez, I see why we wanted Danny Shelton...

Don't think any decent DTs are even available anymore

Don’t like seeing that play design. The narrator is 100% right, nothing was done to move that safety out of the play. I remember watching the replay because the normal speed made it look like RA had no chance but the replay from the end zone showed him catching it before the safety “loosened” his grip on the ball. If one of the two WRs on the left goes downfield, that Safety doesn’t have a chance.

Yea there are two angles of the catch attempt that look completely different.  The better angle where you can see before the contact is made Anderson clearly had the ball in both of his hands before the safety made contact.   It would have been a very difficult catch but one the best WRs make more often than not I'd say.

It appears we have some good CB’s this year

Horn - Henderson - Jackson has the potential to be the best starting trio in the entire league.  Throw in Chinn and Woods on the back end, and ooooooh weeeeee mayne.  We're gonna need it too, because outside of Burns our pass rush is gonna be buns.

Also Was played there starters till mid 2nd qt long after Car pulled there 1st team.

Then when the game was more on the line they wanted to bliz the rookie QB because it seem to me like they wanted to win...

Yeah watching the replay Corral really got put into a shitty situation. 4th stringers that are going to get cut, 2 minute drill vs a team blitzing like they had nothing to lose. Sam Howell was getting 4 seconds to throw the ball, Bonnafon as his RB and Alex Erickson who was basically our WR4 last year at WR.

Ron definitely did not want to lose to Rhule again, having linemen stunt and running zero blitzes.

I love Ron and I'll always be a huge fan of his, but he had his team playing harder with 2 mins to go in the first preseason game than he did for some regular-season games here. That said, nobody is better at putting Corral in a bad situation than Rhule.

Thanks to Anthony Rizzuti of Panthers Wire

1. QB Baker Mayfield: 80.5
2. OL Cade Mays: 79.1
3. WR Keith Kirkwood: 78.4
4. WR Derek Wright: 77.2
5. TE Giovanni Ricci: 75.5

33. TE Jared Scott: 46.5
34. C Pat Elflein: 45.6
35. QB Matt Corral: 43.3
36. RG Austin Corbett: 31.9
37: TE Nate Becker: 30.3

1. LB Cory Littleton: 92.8
2. CB Duke Dawson: 90.1
3. CB Stantley Thomas-Oliver III: 82.1
4. LB Brandon Smith: 81.5
5. CB Tae Hayes: 77.0

31. LB Julian Stanford: 37.7
32. DT Daviyon Nixon: 37.4
33. LB Isaiah Graham-Mobley: 36.4
34. DT Bravvion Roy: 36.0
35. DT Frank Herron: 30.2

Take from it what you will. I would like to see all the grades, but I will say that it appears that the depth at DT is bad, while the same at CB looks good. Our LB corps may not be great, but its floor is probably average at worst. All in all, these grades are probably a pretty accurate reflection of the team's strengths and weaknesses at certain positions.

If you want to read the little no-account words that accompany the grades here it is:

https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/lists/panthers-pff-grades-panthers-commanders/

Was corbett that bad because elflein is generally the worst?

    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
    • this one is gold:     Bryce has a cult inside the Panthers fanbase that has truly developed some NPC hivemind. I'll never understand how he's captured the true essence of the casual fan like that.
    • "everybody has to earn it, heading in the right direction, feel great about him, get it done at the right time"     Mother fuger
