Thick smoke: CJ Stroud red flags coming out - "not an easy guy to coach," "CJ Stroud...giving the Carolina Panthers pause"

So many games in the NFL are decided by one possession or come down to one play and Bryce seems to have that magic that'll show up in those big moments. That is what separates and makes Bryce the favorite in my book. CJ could very well have that ability too but with Bryce, we've seen it where with CJ we just haven't.

You can definitely see some flaws in Stroud's game and the question of how he will respond to pressure is a legit one. But Bryce Young is not without his questionable moments on tape either. That is where this whole discussion gets to a point where you look around and see maybe some folks judgement is being clouded. If either of these two QB's were head and shoulders above the other we might not be sitting at #1 overall. Hopium is a hell of a drug. It's probably best to adjust expectations and not expect a magician out of Young right away. Let him show us.

This reeks of a team outside the top 2 spreading false rumors on the offset chance he falls to them.

Looking at you Jim Irsay.

That was my first thought, feels like they want to sit at 4 and they really want teams to stop trying to get up in front of them in the case he does drop.

"not an easy guy to coach" is some really flaky criticism on the level of "fake smile" IMO. any decent coach is not gonna care if Stroud has his own opinions about how things go and in fact you want that critical thinking in the room, especially at the quarterback position. you had better be able to reach a player of his level if you're an NFL coach, is what I'm saying.

I agree with everyone saying the timing and the mouthpiece for this criticism warrants scrutiny. it's pretty clearly a hit job with a goal of having Stroud drift down the board until team X can justify trading up or picking him in their slot. it's transparent. happens every year. if Stroud goes #1 he'll have earned every bit of it.

Not sure who Lombardi spoke with that said Stroud was hard to coach, but I just don't see it. I've watched every game of his this past season and there's been nothing on the field nor sidelines to show that he's hard to coach. I got the opposite impression, that he's easy to coach and work with.

The next cpl of wks are going to be draining... but the draft will be here soon!!!

I'd even go a step further and say that if you're an NFL team at the top of the draft and the difference between Bryce Young and CJ Stroud ends up being that you determine Stroud is not "easy to coach" then to me that's a sign that you didn't do the work you needed to do. there are plenty of differences between these two quarterbacks just in terms of onfield play, more than enough for you to make the determination that's right for your team.

Wow - where is all this Stroud hate coming from suddenly. I really hope the Panthers ignore the media noise and not overthink this decision.  It needs to be Stroud.  You've risked too much to get this pick wrong.  His floor is an NFL starting QB, his ceiling is a top 10 QB.

The coaches and scouts dont listen to the media at all to make their decisions.  This is just for the fans and views unless teams are giving them the info to begin with

    • Don't have to be miss cleo. His weakness are length, athleticism, creating his own shot, defense, finishing at the rim,  Strengths - shooting and IQ.   Likely won't work as non athletic shooters don't typically work.

    • I live in Indiana and took a trip that weekend to watch my two friend's teams play (Chiefs and Vikings) IN Minnesota when they were playing at a college field, I think TCF? Anyways, our plan was to watch the game (noon game) then do some shopping at the Mall of America, I wasn't planning on watching the Panthers play Seattle since I was out sight seeing and walking around after the noon game had ended. By the time we were walking back into the Mall the Panthers were down by 2 scores in the 4th or going into the 4th and we were all thirsty from walking around for 2.5 hours after the Vikings game so we decided to postpone shopping until after we ate. We found this nice little sports bar inside the mall that had the game on. Man, I'm so glad we skipped shopping because that was probably the most excited I've been in some time for a win. Beating Seattle in 2015 felt like the "monkey off the back" sort of feeling and I knew we had finally arrived as a team. The entire bar erupted when Cam hit Olsen for that walk off TD. Literally one of the greatest moments of my life. My friend wasn't so happy though lol, by the time the Panthers game ended ALL of the stores inside the mall had closed and he wasn't able to get any souvenirs. It was his first time watching a Vikings game live and making a trip like that so he was legit upset lol. I on the other hand couldn't have been happier.
