If you were GM, how would you use our that first pick in round 2?

The notion that free agents wont come to Carolina, or any other not so ideal place is just never true. Sure, you probably aren't getting the aging vet looking for one last chance at a ring, but in almost all cases, the free agent signs where the money is best, regardless. Obviously they compare two situations if the money is the same, but these guys have short careers, they will go where the money is.

I don't know how realistic it is but QB if our team has one ranked as a starter/potential franchise guy. If not it has to be the best linemen available O preferably but D would work too. Build the lines and things will start to fall into place.

A good question would be : If there is a top ranked QB the team thinks is the guy that falls to late 1st round do you dare move up?

Note : This is all under the assumption that I/We are comfortable with the decision makers next year ( Lets just say Ben Johnson and the GM from the 49ers ).

Well, it's going to depend, a lot!  Total cop out right?

Were I the GM, I would be looking for an OL that matches the scheme of the offense we're playing.  Need more dancing bears?  More boulders?  If the OL was a poor value I'd look for a separation specialist WR.  Maybe they are an average athlete, but all they did was produce in college and schooled folks at all star/bowl games?  Sign me up!

If that doesn't workout value wise, I'd look on the defensive side of the ball.  Edge and DBs are massive needs.  Heck, if there's a true nose tackle, I'd go for that guy too (again, matching what our DC is doing).

So yeah - the Panthers should have a multitude of options.  And of course folks will covet that spot so I could totally see use trading out for more picks.
