Blocking isnt going to change the fact that his passes beyond about 20 yards are wildly inaccurate, the same thing was true in college.

Accuracy.

Bryce Young was easily the least accurate starter Alabama has had since Jalen Hurts.

Last season, he completed just 2/3rds of his passes (66.9%) — the lowest for a ‘Bama starter since 2017, when Jalen Hurts completed 61% of his throws. Before that? You have to go back to 2007, when John Parker Wilson was running for his life behind a bad line and an unsteady running game (holy poo, déjà rêvé).

There were many reasons for that stat. Drops by wide receivers were certainly a factor, and especially as the Tide got further into its depth chart. And so what the line. But much of Byrce’s stat line was the product of simple execution errors. Young’s early-season deep ball accuracy was especially a concern, and it took most of a season for that aspect of his game to be wrinkled out. On throws over 20 yards, Young “improved” by year’s end hit 36% of his deep shot. It was so bad early, in fact, that coming out of the LSU game, he had completed just 10 such throws all season.

By contrast, Tagovailoa and Jones hit between 49% — 59% of their deep balls.

I'd like to see his numbers when they had Jameson Williams....versus a guy in Burton who's looking at Day 2 at best.

Context is always important...most articles explain in 22' without Bryce that much weaker ALA team doesn't make a bowl game.

We lacked the scheme, and protection to consistently challenge vertically, we will see.

Stroud had a knock on his playmaking we found that was false, deep accuracy is also timing and reps. You can't say we had an offense that lended itself to that.

Completed at 36% in college lmao that translates to like 15-20% in the NFL, even Mac Jones was completing his deep shots at 50% in college.

Bryce is a bum, this season is not going to be any better, the only way we will win more games is by going run heavy and hiding Bryce.

Lol @ any fan calling Bryce a bum.

Thanks for the comedy.

Even if Bryce doesn't work out. It isn't because he's a bum.

I know they aren't similar receivers but we brought both DJ Chark and Diontae Johnson in on one year deals in consecutive years.. I hope we get a lot more out of Johnson.

It's pretty sad because people were absolutely drooling over chark and Bryce in training camp. He ended up being way worse than I thought not even serviceable. People need to stop getting their hopes up in training camp but theres always a darling everyone falls in love with every off-season who doesn't do poo in the regular season

Johnson seems to fit in with Bryce better. Quick route runner who can get open vs a deep threat. Hope he works out better too.

most of this fanbase thinks we need about 12 receivers and that will fix bryce

Not me.

We need that doctor that gave roids to our 2003 OL to hook him up w/ some HGH or something.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
