We better start drafting some O-line talent or find UDFA gems that can be developed.  For salary cap sanity, we need some eventual starters on rookie contracts to restore a more balanced cap allocation across the board.

Still think he's better suited long term as a big guard but the chances of that happening at this point are... minimal.

How long did we spend looking for a LT?  I remember those years.  You pay the LT.  That's the nature of the game.  How did the OL look when Icky missed time?  Like a poo sandwich?  Yep.  He's a good starter, you have to resign him.

Is anyone really worried about Bryce breaking the bank at this point?  I mean, he's looked better, but he's not looked like a $50m a year guy, much less a $30m year guy.  Some might even say he's a replacement level.

Regardless of QB, Bryce, FA or Draft Pick in 2026, having a good OL is important.  Also in another two years, a bunch of money will coming off the books from recent FA.  So it's not like we're tying our hands completely up by resigning Icky.

Is it fair to say that paying him scares me? On the one hand he has all the talent in the world, actually loves the Panthers/playing here and you definitely do not want to be in the LT desert. 

On the other hand he is still inconsistent and still has problems with speed rushers. 

I think the best plan is if you are planning on extending him do it now before the LT market takes another price hike

He had a down second year but called himself out and has improved since. 

Going to have to cut some cap from that oline first tho

I've said it before. This is the first time since college that he's had the same coach/scheme two years in a row. He's going to continue to improve. You gotta pay him.

It’s funny that people still worry about the cap more than losing proven talent in critical positions. look at the talent we have had over the last 5 years. We try to compensate with draft picks that don’t work out, and FA signings above the amnesty value that don’t pan out either and we are stuck with garbage talent, no depth and middle of the road cap. You pay people like Icky. Young prevent talented LT’s don’t grow on trees.
