James Borrego / Matt Rhule…. Is their a worse 1-2 combo

For years, whoever was the coach of the Bengals along with whoever managed the Reds were the worst.

If there's any good news, the Bengals did reach the Super Bowl this year with the same upper management structure they've had in place from the beginning. However, Reds management recently gave the fans the finger, so not all is going well there.

The Hornets were 1 game away from the playoffs this season.

The Panthers have won 10 games the past two seasons.

The latter is infinitely worse than the former.

I would argue that being one game away from the playoffs is the worst possible finish in the NBA. In a league where your fortunes depend heavily upon the top 3 players on your roster, if you're going to miss the playoffs, miss them big. Being stuck in the middle of the pack in the NBA is purgatory, you're never bad enough to get good enough picks to get meaningfully better.

The problem with that line of thinking is that with the new lottery odds, tanking doesn't guarantee you near as much in the NBA as it does in the NFL. Far better to try and compete.

Of professional coaches in one city?

JB is massively underachieving with his horrendous defensive philosophies, getting blown out two years in a row in the play in game and already wasted two years of LaMelo’s career.

then there’s Matt Rhule

It figures you would be one of the ones who think JB is a bad coach.

Borrego is not head coach material. At least not at this point. He seems better suited as a #2. Some guys are just better at being a top assistant than they are as the top dog.  Bill Guthridge, Bud Foster, etc.

Ruhle is a college coach. Not a good NFL coach at all. Both franchises won’t be able to take the next step until they replace both of these guys. Nothing personal because JB and Ruhle both seem like decent men but they are not getting the job done here.

    • Umm yeah. When did he get it done at the right time? I seem to remember a 4-6 finish and needing Atlanta to win our way into the playoffs but whatever.
    • I mean....no lies detected. See above. We have traded a fortune to draft a guy #1 overall that people have lowered standards for to the point that not playing like Jimmy Clausen and looking like a poor man's Kyle Allen occasionally is worthy of a contract extension making him one of the highest paid QB's in the league. That is cope on steroids.
    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
