Yeah. He tackled Kamara for like an 8 yards loss. He also pressured Carr multiple times into the rest of his D-line. 
 

Now, broadly speaking, regarding our defense…I refuse to critique them anymore until we field a professional offense, which we haven’t done (arguably) since before Burns was drafted. Teddy was the best, but he was only good in the middle of the field, and was allergic to TD’s.

 

Its pathetic, and I’m tired of watching this unit fight for 3.5 quarters before being gassed and (I assume) mentally defeated.

 Burns is not worth what he wants but the defense is far away from being the problem on this team. This defense is actually pretty good. 

This offense is the worst I’ve seen since 2010 and I actually think the 2023 offense is worse than the Jimmy Clausen led team.

It was worse because he is/was a known commodity and that deal was an absolute windfall. At least with Bryce there was some small iota of hope and potential.

I've been quite disappointed with him. But Burns or no Burns the culture of this team is in the toilet and I can't blame anyone on the defense for being fed up with the pitiful lack of offensive output. Even when guys like Derrick Brown make big game changing plays they are rewarded with their efforts by a field goal if we're lucky.

Oh man.  Breaking down a few moments in sequence that really stand out:

-Pick 8 in 2021 could have produced 2 firsts, as we had offers per Fitt's post-draft presser.  That could have netted an extra first in 2022.  Instead, we had that huge gap between R1 and 4 in 2022 and mortgaged even more to trade up for Corral.  Not having a 2nd and 3rd clearly made Fitt and Rhule ansty to trade up when they could have sat and got Howell ahead of WAS.  

-The Burns offer last year could have given us a 2023 and 2024 1st.  We decline, yet we proceed to trade up and put ourselves in a position (again) where we need picks.  Mortgaged even more of what we had remaining because we got desperate, too needy.  Then, they treat the CMC package way too carelessly going all for this Bryce kid. 

The CMC picks were filling the voids we gave away for Darnold and Corral, they didn't truly net gain and we immediately waste them.    

Fitt has simply done an awful job.  And he hasn't brought in a single playmaker.  Just gave 2 away.  And I'm sure they declined interest again from a team like Detroit this season pre-deadline.

If this team was just patient and let certain things come to them, we could've had 2 firsts in the 22, 23, and 24 drafts.  Bezerk.  

Could have had a crop like Rashawn Slater (21), Garrett Wilson (22), Zion Johnson (22), & CJ Stroud with CMC and DJ Moore still in house, and an extra 1st in 2024.  And also more potential OL and DL from the picks that wouldn't have given away for Corral and Bryce.  They keep backing themselves into the corner, these forced situations, needing to force picks, missing the real talent.    

The careless QB carousel resulting in one of the biggest trades in NFL history ruined the rest of the team. So much talent missed.

      Bryce among the 7 players Mark Ross of NFL.com guarantees will get better this season. Today, I am identifying seven players who I guarantee will improve on their 2024 output in the 2025 season. Young took tremendous strides in 2024 after returning to the starting lineup in Week 8 following his benching. He looked far more comfortable in his return and produced with consistency, as he threw for 2,104 yards with 15 TDs and six INTs in the final 10 contests. Most important perhaps is Young's confidence grew immensely down the stretch, leading Carolina to either a game-tying or game-winning drive in six of those games. Now he enters his second season in Dave Canales' system with his best supporting cast to date. The Panthers drafted wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan eighth overall to pair with Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette, who I also believe is poised for a breakout campaign this fall. The 18th-ranked rushing attack from a year ago added Rico Dowdle to complement Chuba Hubbard, giving the team a pair of 1,000-yard rushers. The Panthers have taken the necessary steps to ensure Young's third season will be the best of his career, and now it's up to him to not only continue to grow as a player but prove why he was worthy of being taken No. 1 overall in 2023.       While it's fair to question how impactful a player's relationship with a coach is (especially if someone has questions regarding said coach), it's important to also evaluate the difference between the players here. Jordan Fuller was pick #199 in the 6th round while Justin Simmons was #98 in the 3rd round. Jordan Fuller might have gotten a Super Bowl ring while he was with the Rams, but he got it while on the IR. Justin Simmons, on the other hand, is a x2 Pro-Bowler (2020, 2023), x4 second-team All-Pro (2019, 2021 - 2023), and was the NFL co-leader in INTs (2022). Simmons has also fallen off in the last couple of seasons though, grade-wise. He very well might not be that same player, which could be why the Falcons have elected to replace him with Fuller. As far as getting the best out of what he has, asking him to produce with a starting DL of A'Shawn Robinson (63.56% of the defense's snaps), LaBryan Ray (51.48%), and Shy Tuttle (50.08%) isn't reasonable. Wonnum only played in 8 games, but had the second most % of snaps (37.27%) at EDGE behind Clowney (53.53%). The second-string DL based on snap % was... and don't read this if you just ate... Charles Harris (34.48%), DeShawn Williams (27.67%), and Nick Thurman (19.7%). The second-string EDGEs based on snap count would be DJ Johnson (32.27%) and Cam Gill (18.14%). With the investments made in the run defense this season though, especially on the defensive line, it's more than fair to demand a complete turn around from last season.
