But I also didn't say that Herbert didn't have arm talent when it was clearly on display. Kinda like folks that thought Gabbert was the #1 prospect when he was 0/1 on passes of 40+ yards the year he declared. 👀

We might have the strongest 4-3 LB history in the league since we entered the league. It's because we've also probably spent by far the most resources at the position since we entered the league. We didn't evolve as an organization. We came into the league in the early '90s and it seemed like we've been largely stuck in 1980s football philosophy mindsets. It's not a coincidence.

The problem hasn't been spending first round picks on fantastic players like Morgan, Beason, Davis and Kuechly. 

The problem has been spending 2-7 round picks on trash that I don't have to list because we all know the names. 

We're a losing franchise because we've consistently drafted poorly, particularly after the first round pick.

I get all the reasons why he waited so long but it was very apparent that Whitehead was a liability.  Rhule/Snow/Brady have to be better at pulling the plug on someone who isn't performing well.  

Our depth is much better this year so IMO there shouldn't be any excuses why they can make a decision much earlier.  I could care less if that player is making too much money to sit the bench.  The best 22 should be on the field regardless of veteran status.

If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his ass when he jumped .  It is easy to to look  back and be 100 % correct .  It was Hurney that brought in Teddy . It was Hurney who gave Shak the contract he has .  Fitts brought in Darnald because we did not have a starting QB .  Rhule is the coach and will coach the players given to him .  Why not wait and see how it plays out before second guessing everything .

Oh man, training camp always brings out the new idiot members that are going to vie for the crown of most esteemed moron for the season. Always a treat. Every season it's a brand new bunch. Last year's crowd was pretty disappointing so I'm hoping this bunch is more entertaining.

At the beginning of Panthers Confidential, you see inside the Panther Draft Room when they're informed of the Lions picking (Penei Sewell).

Scott Fitterer says to Matt Rhule, "So what's gonna happen is Sewell's gonna go, we'll be staring at Horn, and then it's gonna be what's worth us moving off of Horn." 

Later, right around five minutes in, the film rewinds to the day before the draft and you see the meeting where Matt Rhule lists "the cluster of guys we really love" in order with Scott Fitterer, Samir Suleman and David Tepper. 

They are...

- Penei Sewell
- Jaycee Horn
- Patrick Surtain
- Jaylen Waddle
- Devonta Smith

And finally, a little after that comes the part where they actually draft Jaycee Horn, which would strongly suggest he was the guy they wanted (and in fact they say so afterward). 

So ya know,  there's that 😕

      okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.

      How can you say they aren’t trying to win now with all the moves made in free agency? Or is trading first round picks the only way to be win now? I’d be fine never trading another first round pick again, win now be damned.
