It's a great place to be overpaid. That's really it. If you are tired of working this is the team handing out hefty retirement packages if your health can survive the toxic work environment.

Bingo. If you're ambitious and want to win and create a legacy this is the worst situation in the league hands down. If you just want to take some millions out of a billionaire's bank account and ride off laughing this is your spot.

Every job has pros and cons. Our spot sucks right now because you have to rebuild but that also gives you time.

A team like LA you have these huge contracts that you have to figure out. You have the QB (in theory) but what do you do with the roster and are people patient?

It’s about weighing what you want.

The only thing going for us, aside from money, was being in the worst division by far.  Now that the Atlanta job is open, we don’t even have that advantage.

Atl in my opinion is one decent qb away from being exceptional.  I highly suspect they target a whiz kid offensive guy in their search

Maybe the challenge of making this an average team again would appeal to some people.

It's one of 32 NFL GM jobs in the world.

If you're applying for a job at that level you back yourself to be a success at it.

The problem the Panthers have is that if you're applying for multiple NFL GM jobs the Panthers opening will be at the bottom of your list, so we won't get the perceived 'best' GM this offseason.

No. This is the worst situation for any professional to work in. A micromanaging boss that knows nothing about your job yet is in your office every damn day telling you what he thinks and wants done? Good luck finding someone worth a damn to sign on for that.

Honestly, this team is a blank slate for a GM.  Unlike other teams in the league that have players under very long contracts, the Panthers currently only have 7 players under contract for 3 years or longer currently. We also currently do not have a ton of dead money going into next season. We are not in a bad position salary cap wise.
